Writing Penny

I hope you have enjoyed meeting Penny.

I said before that Leisha is the centre of the group, and Audrey is the backbone. I see both of these characters as very resourceful women, determined to chart their own destiny.

Penny is different. Whilst she is incredibly smart, she lacks any real understanding of herself. And because she is wildly attractive, she becomes used to participating in her romantic liaisons the way she wants, with the emphasis on physical rather than emotional pleasure.

Penny makes decisions based on finding the easiest path available, without having the bother that commitment would bring her.

It won’t surprise you to find out this does not serve her well. Her story becomes a cautionary tale, until she is convinced to take a risk on a new future, with new ways of being.

Her errors of judgment are reminiscent of us all, where we refuse to see what is in front of us. I’m sure we’ve all had times when we couldn’t make a hard decision!

The excerpts that I’ve been showcasing here on the blog are from the draft of Because Life, a book from a series in production. The story revolves around five lovely friends, and the secrets they keep.  I’m leaving Jenna and Maggie for later, because they come into the group later. I hope you have enjoyed the journey so far!

With the launch of our new book on the horizon, I’m pausing the blog again. I’ll be back around June.

In the meantime, be happy!
