Because Life #13

Jacqueline advised her point blank that, pleasurable though they may be, her current research activities would not get her the sort of job that would stand her in good stead long-term and, if she was to get a job anywhere other than in the sex industry, she would have to consider repeating the year.

Mediocrity left a nasty taste in Penny’s mouth. She’d been used to being the smartest in the class, and not having to work hard at all, but now she discovered brains were not enough.

She made good use of her holiday job as a lifeguard at the local pool to consider her future. What she needed, she decided, was sex on tap with none of the associated time involved in tracking it down. She could work hard for a year to get into university.

There was a cute-enough guy who worked at the local supermarket. She’d considered him before and he was definitely interested in her.

He’d do. She’d repeat the school year and put up with just one guy.

But Penny was to learn an early lesson to which she paid no later heed: even though one may have the illusion of taking control, things never went as planned.

Because she wasn’t counting on Alden Richards.
