A very wise counsellor once introduced me to the concept of Be, Do, Have.
Most people, she told me, think you must Have in order to Do so you can Be.
Confused? I was. But it makes sense once you have the concept.
An example is
I must Have money in order to Do the things I want to do, so I can Be happy.
Or
I must Have a powerful job in order to Do the work I want to do, so I can Be mighty.
This sends us down the track of having to Have first, which can be hard work, and means we have to delay being who we want to Be.
Instead, my counsellor said, we need to Be so we can Do in order to Have.
What does this mean?
Be the person you want to be. In that way you will Do the things you see as important. The result will be you will Have what you want.
Who do you want to be?
