Struggle Days, Part 2, The Main Event

Sometimes the struggle is the main event in our lives. Perhaps it’s a new struggle, or perhaps it’s an old struggle come to pay a visit, or it’s a regular repeat offender.

First, you need a safe space. Snuggle up on the couch, sit in a welcoming garden. Bundle yourself up in bed. Leave a place of hurt if you need to.

Then, let yourself breathe.

Processing struggle is a big thing. Let your mind wander over the confusion, the hurt, the pain. If you see your own part in the chaos, focus on it, cringe about it, then let it go. Remember this is a learning experience. Let it all flow over and through you.

Feel. Think.

You’ll regain your strength, even if just a little. Eventually the road will appear before you, even if the long-term focus is murky. Remind yourself how precious you are to the world and to you. You matter.

There’s a Future You that’s very grateful for the way you tackled this episode. Go to it.

But only after you spend time in your safe space.
