The three most important laws to live by, Part 3

I believe life comes down to some simple truths. Most of the time we forget these truths because we get so distracted by the things we do. Here is the third of three simple laws to live by.

Money is just energy, a wise person once said to me.

Energy? What do you mean by that?

A dollar is a dollar, right?

Wrong.  Saving a dollar on a loaf of bread is a dollar. Saving a dollar on buying a house is basically irrelevant. But it’s the same thing, a dollar. You can save $10 on a new dress and accidentally get a speeding ticket on the way home.

So here are some questions to ask yourself about money:

What part does money play in my life? Am I saving or spending? What is the aim of my saving / spending?

Do I have enough? Enough is all I need. How much is enough for me?

What actions cause me to live beyond my income? Can I remove any of them?

What actions enable me to live within my income? Can I apply those actions to other areas of my budget?

Remember you own money, it doesn’t own you. Put your energy into making it work for you.
