The three most important laws to live by, Part 1

I believe life comes down to some simple truths. Most of the time we forget these truths because we get so distracted by our day. Here is the first of three simple laws to live by.

Law 1: This is no dress rehearsal

It’s life, every second of every minute of every hour. Make every second count as much as you can.

When things are good, stop for a moment and savour it. Think about how you’re feeling and commit it to memory. Take a snapshot in your head and store it.

When things are tough, stop for a moment and take a breath. Remember this is life, too. You’ve been given a problem to solve. Adjust your thinking: What is the outcome you want? Where do you want to be? What is under your control?

Make a list of the things that are making life tough, then decide what of those things you can control. Control those bits.

The minutes you have can be spent in any way you want. Choose wisely. Be conscious of love, respect, kindness. Be wary of regret, resentment, and unfulfilled dreams. This is no dress rehearsal, so live it your way.
